Thank you for choosing Around Town Hound Pet Care Service!

Hello!

I’m Maripage Grubic, owner and primary pet sitter at Around Town Hound Pet Care Service.

Thank you for choosing us to care for your furry kids. Asheville Pet Sitter Maripage Grubic with her dogs.

To me, pet sitting for your furry family members is so much more than just taking your dog for a walk or cleaning the cat’s litter box. It’s about caring for your pet’s well-being and building a relationship with them and you. It means making a connection with your pets and developing a relationship, so they feel comfortable, like they’re spending time with a member of their family. It means helping you and your pets have a great life together and providing you with the comfort of knowing your beloved pets and home are safe and well cared for.

In my years of pet sitting, I have learned that no two pets or households are the same.  The things your pet needs most, and what keeps them happiest when you’re away, doesn’t always fit into a standard visit. Around Town Hound Pet Care Service customizes each pet visit to best suit your pet’s unique requirements.

I welcome you to call me with any questions you have about our pet sitting, dog walking & exercise sessions, dog hikes or cat sitting services. We will discuss your pet’s needs and come up with the best plan for their care.

I look forward to caring for your furry family members soon!

~ Maripage

Great Walks in South Asheville to Keep Your Dogs Happy

Maybe you’ve just moved to South Asheville or simply relocated here from another part of town. Let me tell you about some great places to walk that will keep you and your dogs happy.

Jackie and Hunter on a Morning Walk on the Mountain To Sea Trail

The Mountain To Sea Trail – Asheville, NC
You can access the mountain to sea trail in South Asheville, right off the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance at Hendersonville Road. Just look for gravel pull-offs and the trailheads.

At this section of the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Mountain to Sea Trail zig-zags across the parkway every few miles or so. It is a heavily traveled trail, with lots of use by runners and dog owners. The trails can be tight quarters in some spots, so if your dogs are leash reactive, it may be best to walk dogs here in the mornings, or in the winter.

Wildlife frequent the trails and surrounding forest, so be on the alert for bears, rattlesnakes, turkeys, etc. The Mountain to Sea Trail is State Park land, so your dogs must be on a leash at all times.

The Trail ranges from easy to challenging and can be very muddy in the spring and fall. Bring along plenty of towels for doggie clean off. [Read more…]

What to Expect from Our Dog Walking Services

When it comes to dog walking around Asheville and Arden, we take the job seriously.  Your dog’s walking time is sometimes the highlight of their day, so we do our best to make it a great experience.

When we first arrive we say our hello’s and take a moment for tail wags and belly rubs. It’s a little ritual that reminds your dogs we are there to bring them good stuff and fun.

Before we go anywhere your dogs are securely outfitted with their leashes and harnesses. During the first few minutes of their walk your dogs can mosey at the pace that pleases them. This ensures plenty of time to read the “P-Mail” and take care of important doggie business.

Your dog’s walk is tailored to their individual needs, depending on your dog’s age, health and overall well being. The walk may vary from a gentle stroll to a vigorous paced walk. It all depends on what is best for your dog, and what they need on that day. [Read more…]

How Do I Select Right Pet Sitter?

Selecting the right pet sitter is somewhat like choosing the right babysitter for your child. There are so many factors to consider, and you wouldn’t hire just anyone to care for your kids.IMG_1252

One of the most important factors to consider is whether the pet sitter is in your area, and provides the type of service you and your pets need. Do you know whether you need vacation pet care, daily dog walks, overnight pet sitting, or someone to visit with your pets for a few hours?

Trust will be the next most important consideration in choosing the right pet sitter. You need to hire someone that you trust. After all, the pet sitter/dog walker will not only be caring for your pets, but they will have access to your home. [Read more…]
