Maybe you’ve just moved to South Asheville or simply relocated here from another part of town. Let me tell you about some great places to walk that will keep you and your dogs happy.
The Mountain To Sea Trail – Asheville, NC
You can access the mountain to sea trail in South Asheville, right off the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance at Hendersonville Road. Just look for gravel pull-offs and the trailheads.
At this section of the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Mountain to Sea Trail zig-zags across the parkway every few miles or so. It is a heavily traveled trail, with lots of use by runners and dog owners. The trails can be tight quarters in some spots, so if your dogs are leash reactive, it may be best to walk dogs here in the mornings, or in the winter.
Wildlife frequent the trails and surrounding forest, so be on the alert for bears, rattlesnakes, turkeys, etc. The Mountain to Sea Trail is State Park land, so your dogs must be on a leash at all times.
The Trail ranges from easy to challenging and can be very muddy in the spring and fall. Bring along plenty of towels for doggie clean off. [Read more…]
